Facilities Maintenance
The Facilities Maintenance Division is responsible for the preventive and janitorial maintenance and minor repair of City-owned buildings and other facilities to ensure they are clean, safe, sanitary, and operational for the public. In addition to these tasks, the Facilities Maintenance Division is also responsible for graffiti abatement (the removal and/or painting over of graffiti) and parks construction/maintenance.
The tasks performed by the Facilities Maintenance Division are varied and challenging.
The responsibilities include the periodic inspections and janitorial maintenance of public buildings such as libraries, recreation centers, fire stations, and the police department.
The Facilities Maintenance Division performs building repairs such as roof repairs, plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, etc.,
There is one group within the Division responsible for setup and preparation of events and meetings held at the Community Center. This group faces a special challenge as the users of the Community Center range from the Monterey County Symphony, to small groups of 10 holding a meeting. All of which have unique requirements.
The Facilities Division is responsible for construction/maintenance in City parks. These duties involve the design, installation, maintenance and repair of park irrigation systems, and the installation, inspection, repair, and removal of park playground equipment
