Robert Russell is a veteran Engineer with the City of Salinas, who in addition to his role as the Engineering and Transportation Department Director /City Engineer also acts as the City’s Traffic Engineer. He has been working in the City’s Engineering & Transportation Department (formerly Public Works) since January 1984 and is highly knowledgeable in all aspects of public works engineering and development in the City of Salinas. Mr. Russell currently serves as one of the City’s representatives on the Transportation Agency of Monterey County Board (TAMC).

Mr. Russell served as a Deputy City Engineer from 2000-2004 and has been in his current position of Department Director / City Engineer since 2004.  Mr. Russell began his career with the City of Salinas in January 1984, as a Junior Engineer; and worked his way through the professional engineering series of the City to his current position as City Engineer.

As the City Engineer, Mr. Russell oversees the Engineering & Transportation Department, which consists of the Traffic,  Engineering, and Permit Center Divisions of the City of Salinas. Mr. Russell also serves as the Executive Secretary for the Traffic and Transportation Commission.

Mr. Russell is a registered Professional Civil Engineer and graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Chico in 1983.
