Current Planning Division

The Current Planning Division (CPD) oversees the development of private land within the City of Salinas and proposes and coordinates environmental evaluations (CEQA) for development projects. The Current Planning Division administers the Zoning Code, Zoning Map, and processes development applications and Code revisions and provides the public with accurate, timely. Information on all land use and development matters in the City of Salinas The Current Planning Division:

  1. Reviews development proposals for consistency with applicable local and state standards, regulations and requirements, and present new or revised development standards, as appropriate.
  2. Advises and provides support to Planning Commission
  3. Processes discretionary development applications
  4. Assists the public with development and subdivision of land
  5. Reviews Building Permit plans within established time frames
  6. Processes “permitted” development applications and issues

The Current Planning Division administers the Zoning Code, Zoning Map, and processes development applications and Code revisions.

  1. Site Plan Review
  2. Parcel Maps
  3. Lot Line Adjustments
  4. Lot Mergers
  5. Temporary Use of Land Permits
  6. Home Occupation Permits
  7. Master Sign Plans
  8. Sign Permits
  9. Large Family Day Care Home Permit
Discretionary Development Applications accepted and processed by CPD include but are not limited to:
  1. General Plan Amendments
  2. Zoning Code Amendments and Rezoning
  3. Specific Plans and Amendments
  4. Planned Unit Development Permits
  5. Tentative Maps
  6. Conditional Use Permits
  7. Variances
