Urban Forestry
The
mission of the Salinas Urban Forestry staff is to maintain Salinas
urban forests, including street trees, golf course trees, greenbelt
and median trees, and trees within public facility landscapes.
The
Urban Forest Section strives to provide a professional quality service,
utilizing International Society of Arboriculture tree care practices.
A significant effort is put forth to minimize the number of reported
hazardous conditions.
Tree Trimming
Clearance pruning
is provided when there is interference with traffic and pedestrians.
Safety pruning is provided for diseased, dying, and dead branches.
This could also include crown reduction and thinning where needed.
Tree Removal
This service
is provided for trees which are diseased, dead, or dying. Unstable
trees due to root pruning are also removed as determined by the
City's Urban Forestry Certified Aborists. Stump removal is provided
for trees which have been removed.
Tree Planting
Planting
is provided for citizens who request it after a tree has been removed.
Tree Spraying
Spraying
and soil injection is provided for trees with insect problems, on
a yearly basis or by request.
Educational
Classes
Urban
Forestry provides educational training for schools, scouts, and
other outside agencies by request. Information may be obtained by
