GARAGE/YARD SALE PERMITS

Garage/Yard sales are regulated by Chapter 15A of the Salinas Municipal Code. A permit, which may be obtained for a fee of $11 from the Finance Department, is required for all residential garage/yard sales.

Permit Limitations

No permit shall be issued to the same person or for the same address within any twelve (12) month period and no permit is transferable to another person or address.

Time Limit of Sale

No permit shall be issued and no sale shall be permitted for more than three (3) consecutive days or two consecutive weekends of two (2) days each. The Garage/Yard sale shall not be conducted before 8:00 a.m. or after 6:00 p.m. on the permitted days.

Sign Display

A sign no larger than four (4) square feet in area may be displayed on the premises announcing the sale during the permitted time of the sale. No sign shall be displayed at any location off the premises.

Fee

As of July 1, 2007 the fee for a garage sale permit is $11.
